SUNGAI PETANI: Dr. Robert Ling (Photo), one of the two Kedah PKR assemblymen who recently resigned from the party, says it is not the first time that those who have left PKR have been threatened with a RM10mil lawsuit, but it was nothing.

“Other leaders such as Chief Minister Datuk Seri Azmin Ali, as well as Housing and Local Government Minister Zuraida Kamaruddin, and other leaders have also been threatened with the same demand, but there has been no action to date,” said the assemblyman. from Sidam.

“Others were warned of the consequences if they quit the party after the elections.

“Some leaders who left for leaving the party were blamed,” he said, adding that the legal actions “had not gone beyond the statements.”

“The lawsuit simply ‘dies’ after a point,” it said in a statement Thursday (May 14).

Lunas Assemblyman Azman Nasrudin declined to respond, saying he would only do so after speaking with the Sultan of Kedah on Friday (May 15).

Kedah PKR President Johari Abdul was reported to have said that the two PKR members who resigned would receive demands of RM10mil each for leaving the party.

“The two assemblymen, Azman (Lunas) and Dr. Ling (Sidam) swore an oath and signed a document before becoming candidates.

“They will be met with demands and will have to prepare to face the consequences of their actions.

“They represented PKR and were voted not on the basis of who they were but on the party they represented,” Johari said.

On Tuesday (May 12), Dr. Ling and Azman announced their departure from PKR, as well as their support for the leadership of Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.
