Former CEO of FGV Holdings charged with bribery of more than 10,000 ringgit

Former senior managing director of FGV Holdings Bhd Norazam Abdul Hameed has sought a trial for accepting a bribe of 10,000 ringgit.

KUALA LUMPUR: A former senior general manager of FGV Holdings Bhd was charged in the Court of Sessions here today of agreeing to accept RM10,000 in bonus for recommending a company for audit work to obtain the International Sustainable Carbon Certification (ISCC) for FGV Palm Industries Sdn Bhd.

Norazam Abdul Hameed, 52, has pleaded not guilty to the charge that was read to him before Judge Azman Ahmad.

Norazam is accused of agreeing to receive a 10,000 ringgit bonus from Mohd Rizal Kassim as an incentive to recommend MRA Sustainable Solution for audit work to obtain the ISCC for Kompleks Keratong 9, Kompleks Palong Timur, Kompleks Maokil, Kompleks Bukit Sagu, Kompleks Lepar Hilir, Kompleks Serting Hilir, Kompleks Lepar Utara 06 and Kompleks Serting, belonging to FGV Palm Industries Sdn Bhd.

The crime was allegedly committed at the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) office here between 3.45 am and 3.55 pm on March 1 last year.

The charge is framed in Section 16 (a) (A) of the MACC Act of 2009, punishable under Section 24 (1) of the same law, which establishes up to 20 years in prison and a fine of no less than five times the amount of bonus requested or RM 10,000, whichever is greater, if convicted.

The court granted Norazam a bail of 7,000 ringgit with bail and ordered him to report to the MACC office once a month. He also set November 20 for your mention.

Deputy District Attorney Nor Diana Azwa was prosecuted, and Norazam was represented by attorney Mohd Hisyam Mad Nen.
