MIRI (November 3): A Form Five student is in critical condition after she fell from a downtown shopping complex here today.

In a statement today, the officer in charge of Miri Civil Defense (APM), Capt. (PA) Usman Harto, said that APM Miri received a distress call about the incident at 10.10 am today and that he had led a team of four people to the place.

Usman said the victim was semi-conscious when he found her lying on the concrete driveway that led to parking lots inside the building.

“The victim suffered injuries to the heels. The team immediately treated the victim early before taking her to Miri Hospital in the APM ambulance, ”he said.

Meanwhile, ACP District Police Chief Lim Meng Seah, when contacted, confirmed the case.

Lim said that, as of press time (1:30 pm), the 18-year-old victim is being treated in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Miri Hospital for serious injuries.

“According to the victim’s mother, the victim was depressed and had not been speaking to anyone for the past two to three days prior to today’s incident,” Lim said.
