PUTRAJAYA: Foreign spouses and children of Malaysian citizens who do not have a long-term visit pass can apply for permission to enter the country, said Director-General for Immigration Datuk Khairul Dzaimee Daud.

However, only applicants from countries that are allowed to enter Malaysia would be considered, it said today in a statement.

“For countries that are subject to entry restrictions, applications will not be considered until a decision is made to lift entry restrictions for these countries,” he said.

Applicants who can enter the country are foreign wives or husbands and children of Malaysian citizens or permanent residents.

They must be legally married and their marriages should have been registered with the National Registration Department, the State Islamic Religious Department or the State Islamic Religious Council or registered with the Malaysian Embassy or the Malaysian High Commissioner abroad.

Khairul Dzaimee said that the application needs to be emailed to [email protected] for evaluation before entry permission is granted.

Applicants can browse the website www.imi.gov.my to obtain the procedures and guidelines for admission to the category before submitting a completed application to [email protected]. -Named
