PETALING JAYA: Five women, whose images and videos have circulated on a messaging platform, filed police complaints yesterday.

The All Women’s Action Society (Awam), which accompanied the women to Bukit Aman, said the images and videos were shared by members of a group called “V2K” on Telegram.

Awam claimed that V2K, which he described as notorious, has around 40,000 members, including students and wealthy businessmen.

He also alleged that the group had committed crimes such as criminal intimidation, data breach, sexual harassment and sexual abuse of children.

“We hope that the police and the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission will act swiftly against the perpetrators,” Awam said.

However, not all of the shared material was pornographic. Photographs of fully clothed women were also distributed to these groups.

A victim said Sun that a “friend” had sent him two photos of her, fully clothed, with the caption “Exchange?” indicating that he wanted to exchange them for more photographs.

“I was shocked and upset because I didn’t expect anyone to save my photos, much less without my consent. I never knew groups like this existed and I couldn’t understand why someone would do such a thing. “

He said he confronted about 10 people he knew from the group, but who denied posting or sharing the material.

“It was shocking. I am glad that I am no longer associated with these people, ”she said.

Another victim said she learned that her photos were circulating on a Tumblr site with a link inviting people to join.

According to the victim, some people had joined the group to expose it but did not expect such vile content.

“I left after reporting the group.”

She added that being raised in a conservative Indian family, the first emotion she felt was fear.

“I was afraid of how my parents and family would react because there is no proper way to react to this. I don’t think I’ll ever be able to forget how it feels to be raped, ”she said.

Three of the four victims were blamed when they decided to speak up about the matter.

Many netizens raised questions about the attire of the victims in the images and some even said that the victims should have known this would happen since they posted these images on their public profiles.

The chief deputy director of the ACP federal police sex, women’s and children’s investigations division Siti Kamsiah Hassan confirmed yesterday that the police have received the reports and that the investigations are ongoing.
