Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes has said the club has the mindset to end its Premier League title drought this season.

United last won the league title in the 2012-13 season under Sir Alex Ferguson and have endured a frustrating period since then, with rivals Manchester City and Liverpool forming teams capable of dominating the league.

United finished third in the league last season and reached the FA Cup and Europa League semi-finals with Fernandes, who came to the club in January, playing a key role.

“For me, it doesn’t matter about the other teams,” Fernandes told the UTD podcast. “People can say that they are better than us, they have better first eleven than us, those who come from the bank are better.

“People can say what they think, I don’t care. For a club like United, we haven’t won the Premier League in a long time. It’s too much I think.

“So you have to keep in mind, all the players, all the staff, that we are here to win. And I think we have that mentality.”

“I came to Manchester to win trophies. You are playing for one of the biggest clubs in the world. This club has made history in the past, an amazing history.”

United are off to a disappointing start to the campaign, ranking 14th after three wins, three losses and a draw in their first seven games.

Fernandes was instrumental in the 3-1 win at Everton before the international break, contributing two goals and one assist.

United host West Bromwich Albion at Old Trafford next Saturday.
