Fear Grips Klang Glove Factory Workers Amid Covid-19 Outbreak

Top Glove, the world’s largest glove maker that has played a pivotal role in supplying personal protective equipment to front-line doctors in the fight against Covid-19, now finds the pandemic on its doorstep.

The Teratai group, which is linked to the Top Glove facility in Meru, Klang, recorded 53 new cases today, bringing the total infections to 214.

Data from the Health Ministry showed that the group is not limited to Meru, where some 20 of Top Glove’s factories and their worker shelters are located, but also includes other districts such as Kuala Selangor, Petaling and Hulu Langat.

However, it has not provided data on how many of those cases are directly related to factory workers.

For the workers who keep the glove factory running, walking through its doors every day is a daunting task.
