ALABAMA, USA (ANN): The lives of a father and son were ended by the other’s hand over a dispute that allegedly started when the son killed his father’s dog in Alabama, USA.

Nicholas Coker allegedly shot four of his family dogs after one of them messed with his girlfriend’s son, according to Fox affiliate WALA-TV on Dec. 21.

Two of the dogs died, one owned by Nicholas and the other by his father, Kelvin James Coker, 60.

Police said that after the assailant’s brother warned him that his father was upset over the dog’s death, Nicholas threatened to shoot his brother as well.

“His brother said Dad is going to be upset because you killed his dog and Nicholas allegedly pointed the shotgun at his brother and using language of choice more or less told him to get off his property or he would kill him,” said the head of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office. Investigator Blake Richardson was quoted as saying.

After the incident, the father went to Nicholas’s home to confront him, according to the report. Nicholas then pointed his shotgun at his father, who was inside a truck at the time, during the altercation.

In response, Kelvin James shot his son in the torso. Nicholas was able to return fire and hit his father’s neck, killing him on the spot. Nicolás died shortly after.

“It is unfortunate that they do not value human life more than that,” Richardson was quoted as saying.

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office has responded to several violent incidents involving the Coker family over the years, according to the report. In 2012, Kelvin James was charged with first-degree assault for shooting his other son three times in the arm. – Philippine Daily Inquirer / Asia News Network
