The start of Timo Werner’s life at Chelsea went from bad to worse against Manchester City after the striker appeared to kick the flag while trying to take a corner.
The 53 million pound forward Werner came to Stamford Bridge with much fanfare after shining in the Bundesliga, but is now goalless in 12 games.
His team’s struggles also continued in the resounding 3-1 loss to Manchester City that saw Chelsea suffer a fourth defeat in six games.

With his sterile spell in front of goal continuing, Werner seemed incapable of completing the simplest tasks, with one instance showing him kicking the flag when attempting to take a short corner.
Video from the final minutes of the game showed the former RB Leipzig player scraping the set piece after kicking the flag, then appeared to injure himself.
Referee Anthony Taylor allowed Chelsea back into the corner, but Mason Mount replaced Werner for the set piece.

Sunday’s defeat left Chelsea in a desperate position in the Premier League: eighth place and seven points from leaders Liverpool.
