Small trucks are nearly swallowed up by the floods, larger trucks are stuck, and boats are the main means of transportation in Maran.

PETALING JAYA: The famous Sri Marathandavar Aalayam Maran temple in Maran, Pahang, and its surroundings have been flooded again, with waters reaching more than 6 feet in height.

Photos and videos of the flooding have been circulating on social media and the temple treasurer, Tamil Selvan, confirmed that the temple was flooded after heavy rains.

“From the highway, the water is up to 6 feet deep. Inside the elevated temple, it reached about 3 feet.

“Many devotees came in the morning, but as the water was constantly rising, we asked everyone to evacuate the area.”

The temple office, he said, was also not spared, estimating that the total damage to the temple will reach the 50,000 ringgit mark. Tamil told the FMT that the temple flooding was almost an annual occurrence.

Surrounding areas and villages, he added, are also flooded, and video of the flood shows a truck almost completely underwater and a trailer stuck in flood waters.

Several people were also seen moving through the area in boats.
