Given the company’s accidental tweet earlier today, we were afraid that Epic Games or Rockstar Games would make a U-turn compared to the free version. Grand Theft Auto V (GTA V) offer in Epic Games Shop (EGS) tonight. Fortunately, Epic stuck to its plan, but unfortunately EGS is now facing problems dealing with the hordes of players trying to get the highly successful game free of charge.

If you’ve been having trouble getting the free EGS GTA V offer since it went live about an hour ago, you’re definitely not alone. In fact, EGS has addressed this issue on their Twitter almost immediately after the offer was launched:
We are currently experiencing high traffic in the Epic Games store.
We are aware that users may encounter slow load times, 500 errors or launcher failures at the moment and we are actively working to scale. We will provide an update as soon as we can.

As stated above, it is unknown when exactly EGS will be able to serve everyone’s request. However, we are fortunate once again that one of us still managed to get the game despite the chaos.
