KUALA LUMPUR (Bernama): The confusion over the withdrawal process from Account 1 of the Employee Provident Fund (EPF) under the i-Sinar program is expected to be cleared up next Wednesday (December 2), says Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz (Photo).
The finance minister said that EPF would announce detailed information about the i-Sinar program that day.
“EPF will release details, how the process will be carried out and others on Wednesday,” he said during the “Ruang Bicara” program produced by Bernama TV on Saturday (November 28).
He said this when asked by the show host Sherkawi Jirim about the public’s confusion about the groups that qualified to withdraw their contributions.
Overall, Tengku Zafrul said that qualified people were those who had lost their jobs or whose salary was affected, with withdrawals of up to RM10,000 if their savings in account 1 are less than RM90,000, but not all at once. while those with more than RM90,000 will be able to withdraw up to RM60,000.
On RM3bil’s allocation to finance the acquisition of the Covid-19 vaccine, which was said to be insufficient, Tengku Zafrul said that the allocation would be increased according to need.
“We will not hesitate to increase the allocation if necessary … this is not only for vaccines, but also for all necessary allocations related to the Ministry of Health (MINSA), especially the allocation to combat Covid-19.
“According to a study conducted by the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Energy, Science, Technology and Innovation, it takes about RM3bil to vaccinate around 70% of Malaysians. That estimate was provided based on their discussions with the companies of vaccines, “he said.
On the total allocation to the Department of Special Affairs (JASA), which has been renamed the Department of Community Communications (J-KOM), Tengku Zafrul said that the total allocation would only be known during the committee stage of the Supply Bill 2021 (Budget 2021). .
“At the committee level, the Ministry of Communications and Multimedia will make an announcement about the assignment.
“The ministries are still discussing … what we want to see, and the Minister of Communications and Multimedia, Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah, agrees, is that we should and we need to reduce their allocation,” he said. – Bernama
