PUTRAJAYA: The entry of new and existing foreign students into the country has been postponed until December 31, says the Immigration Department.
Its CEO, Datuk Khairul Dzaimee Daud, said the postponement also affects foreign students who had received approval from the department to come to Malaysia.
“The postponement is in line with the decision of the Higher Education Ministry to delay the enrollment of students and physical classes in higher education institutions,” it said in a statement on Sunday (October 4).
Khairul Dzaimee said the department was made to understand that the ministry had discussed with airlines to allow international students to reschedule their flights.
On October 2, the Ministry of Higher Education said that higher education institutions must complete their registration processes for the new semester online.
The ministry said this should also include all teaching and learning activities, in light of the recent increase in Covid-19 cases across the country.
