KOTA KINABALU: Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim launched the Sabah PKR electoral machine by urging Sabahans to send a clear signal to the National Alliance that Malaysians were fed up with the sponsorship policy.
“What is the government’s approach? It’s about how to increase the rewards for parliamentarians so they don’t run away.
“You have the opportunity in the next state elections to send a clear message: enough is enough,” he said to thunderous applause from Sabah PKR members at the launch of their electoral machinery at the Sabah International Convention Center on Saturday ( September 5).
He said that while Malaysia faces an unprecedented economic fallout due to Covid-19, the country is run by a government with a small majority.
“Even the prime minister (Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin) cannot have a good night’s sleep. His focus is to take care of deputies and leaders – we have never had so many ministers in history.
“This is to maintain power, not to take care of the people,” he said, adding that unemployment has affected nearly a million people in Sabah.
“When unemployment affects nearly a million people, Perikatan’s job is to increase the number of GLC appointments,” he added.
Since the state government led by Warisan-Plus has not yet decided on the use of a single logo to use during the 16 state elections, Anwar mentioned the fact that the PKR logo was used during GE14, which led to the victory. by Pakatan Harapan.
“It is the flag of the PKR that won them … 52% of the votes,” he added.
In the meantime, Anwar said he would speak with Warisan chairman Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal about the seating assignments on Sunday (September 6) morning.
“It is PKR’s responsibility to ensure fair and equitable seating arrangements together with our partners: Warisan, DAP and Upko,” he said.
Anwar said his job is to make sure he can represent the aspirations of the party leadership to other component parties.
“This is so that we can work better and give a guarantee to our friends that we will do our best to ensure that everyone together with us wins.”
Earlier on Saturday (September 5), Shafie, during an event in Keningau, had said that Warisan would name his candidates before September 10.
