Emily Heskey thinks Jota can bring out the best in Mane

Liverpool have done an excellent job in the transfer market this year. The Reds brought in Takumi Minamino for a cut in January and then over the summer they signed Kostas Tsimikas, Thiago Alcantara and Diogo Jota. The Reds have tackled key problem areas with surgical precision. In an exclusive interview with Rousing the Kop, Reds icon Emile Heskey said he believes Diogo Jota will help bring out the best in Sadio Mane.

Liverpool sign Jota

All summer there was talk of the Reds signing a backup forward.

The arrival of Takumi Minamino provided some cover for Roberto Firmino, but there was still no recognized outspoken man to add quality endorsement to Sadio Mane.

Ismaila Sarr was touted as the heir apparent with reports linking the Reds to a movement that persisted throughout the summer. Then, out of nowhere, Liverpool signed Diogo Jota.

The Reds removed the Portuguese forward from the Wolves in a £ 41 million deal.

Emile Heskey on Jota and Mane

Liverpool icon Emile Heskey believes Diogo Jota can help bring out the best in Sadio Mane.

In an exclusive interview with Rousing the Kop, we asked the former Anfield striker whether Jota being able to give Mane a break would benefit the Senegalese forward:

“I think so. I think this is where Jurgen has done really well in adding to the team and adding key players and decent players to the team.

“He can play a bit in rotation. Sadio can sit, Mo can sit, Firmino can sit sometime and just rotate it. Everyone has playtime, but everyone rests when they need it.

“It’s difficult to play, especially with the system they play, the high pressure they play, it’s difficult to play on weekdays and weekends, midweek and weekend.”

What does RTK have to say

We have to agree with the hit man here. No one can accuse this side of the Reds of being out of shape, but they are certainly human.

Most of these players have played almost every game for a few years, and very rarely succumb to injury.

Being able to rotate them on and off the team to keep them fresh for big games could prove crucial in the future.

Sadio Mane could have a good game at the weekend and then a decent one in the Champions League in the middle of the week. Instead, we can now start Diogo Jota on the weekend and get a 10/10 performance from a Mane in fight form in Europe.
