PETALING JAYA: The Enhanced Motion Control Order (EMCO) that had previously been enforced at Desa Bestari Flats, Batu Uban in Penang, ended today.
“The EMCO in the vicinity was extended on December 18 and was scheduled to end on December 31, but the Health Ministry has decided that the situation is now under control,” Chief Minister (Defense) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri said today. Yaakob in a statement.
Meanwhile, police arrested a total of 1,002 people for disobeying standard operating procedures (SOPs) under the Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO) yesterday, Ismail Sabri said.
“Of that number, 854 compounds were issued while 148 were forwarded,” he added.
Of the 1,002 arrested, 687 were involved in nightclub or pub activities, 125 disobeyed social distancing requirements, 69 were people who did not wear face masks, 63 were due to not providing customers with log books or QR codes to register the entry and the remaining 58 for violating other SOPs.
Ismail Sabri added that the police ran 49,603 checks yesterday to make sure the SOPs were obeyed.
“The controls were carried out by 2,454 teams that included 10,632 people. Some 15,000 facilities including supermarkets, restaurants, street vendors, factories, banks and offices were inspected. “
Transportation centers such as airports and land and water transportation stations were also reviewed.
In addition to that, yesterday a total of 35 illegal immigrants were arrested along with three land vehicles that were confiscated.
Police, military and border control officers had implemented a total of 115 roadblocks across the country.
