KUALA LUMPUR: Requests for extension of the repayment period for loans from the Corporation of the National Fund for Higher Education (PTPTN) can be made from today until March 31.
PTPTN Executive Director Ahmad Dasuki Abdul Majid said eligible borrowers can do so through the official PTPTN portal at www.ptptn.gov.my/PelanjutanBayaranBalikCovid19.
No supporting documents are required when applying.
“Eligible borrowers are those who have lost their income because of layoffs or were affected by a reduction in income.
“The extension for a period of three months will begin the same month that the PTPTN approves the request and the two following months, between January and May 2021,” he said yesterday in a statement.
If approved, he said applicants would be notified by email within three business days from the application date.
Borrowers are reminded to update their contact details to ensure approval information reaches them.
“Meanwhile, borrowers who cannot be located can continue to pay through existing channels.
“PTPTN would like to acknowledge all borrowers who make repayments so that PTPTN can continue to help other students in the future,” said Dasuki.
For more information and inquiries, borrowers can contact the PTPTN Careline at 03-2193 3000, which operates Monday through Friday (9 AM to 5 PM).
They can also visit their official website www.ptptn.gov.my and go to the “Frequently Asked Questions” section.
On January 1, PTPTN announced that the government had agreed to allow eligible PTPTN borrowers a three-month extension to repay their loans.
Prior to this, the government had allowed the deferral of repayment of PTPTN loans from March 19 to December 31 to all PTPTN borrowers due to the Covid-19 pandemic. – Bernama
