SHAH ALAM: An elderly man was arrested for driving against traffic and causing two accidents here yesterday afternoon.

Police said the 73-year-old man was found driving against traffic on the Kemuning Shah Alam Expressway (LKSA) heading into downtown Shah Alam around 5 p.m., leading to accidents in the Km3.1 and Km6.6 of the highway.

In the first accident, a 33-year-old motorist was injured when the car he was driving rolled over while trying to avoid the old man’s vehicle, said Shah Alam District Police Chief Baharudin Mat Taib.

Another car collided with the older citizen’s car in the second incident.

Baharudin said an initial investigation found the man got lost while on his way to a supermarket in Shah Alam Section 13 and accidentally drove onto the highway when he realized he did not have a Touch ‘n Go card.

He then decided to back up and drive against traffic to return home in Section 8.
