Eight arrested for driving under the influence in PJ

PETALING JAYA: Eight men were arrested for driving while intoxicated following operations against driving under the influence in the district.

The eight men, between 23 and 57 years old, were arrested during the operations that took place between 11:00 p.m. on Friday (October 2) and 3:00 a.m. on Saturday (October 3). as well as during the same period of the next day.

Petaling Jaya OCPD Communications Assistant Nik Ezanee Mohd Faisal said the men were driving under the influence of alcohol.

“His blood alcohol level was above the allowed limit.

“We are investigating under Section 45A (1) of the Highway Transportation Act of 1987,” he said when contacted on Sunday (October 4).

It is unfortunate that there are still road users who drive under the influence of alcohol, he added.

“Their actions put themselves and other road users in danger,” he said.

ACP Nik Ezanee said 828 road users and 712 vehicles were inspected during the operations.

“We issued citations to 54 road users, including 22 who drove or traveled without valid licenses.

“We will continue to conduct similar operations for the safety of everyone on the road,” he said.
