Egypt’s head coach Hossam El-Badry has dedicated his victory against Togo to Mohamed Salah, who missed the game due to COVID-19.
Salah was ruled out of Egypt’s clashes against Togo in the November international recess after testing positive for COVID-19 twice.
However, Egypt managed to cope without the Liverpool star as they took a close 1-0 win over Togo on Saturday.
Mahmoud Hamdy El-Wensh’s header in the second half was enough for Egypt to clinch their first Group G victory of the 2021 AFCON qualifiers.
Speaking after the match, Hossam El-Badry reflected on the victory and also revealed the message that Mohamed Salah delivered to them before the match.

“It is an important victory that comes after a very difficult period in terms of preparation before the game,” El-Badry told beIN Sports.
“We were better in the first half, we had good form and created several chances, but the players were physically tired in the second half.
“Salah sent us a message before the game saying that he is confident that we will beat Togo, and luckily we did today. I dedicate this victory to all Egyptian fans and to Salah, ”he added.
Egypt will face Togo again away from home during the international break on Tuesday 17 November.
