KLUANG: Econsave Cash & Carry Sdn Bhd has denied allegations that the meat it sold in its supermarket was related to the fake halal logo scandal.
Its CEO, Mas Imran Adam, said the supermarket only sold “Allana” meat, a brand shipped directly from India, bypassing a third party.
He said that Econsave imported the meat several years ago and that the product had been certified halal by Malaysia’s Islamic Development Department (Jakim).
“I hope the public is clear about (this) and that this statement can convince consumers about the halal status of Econsave products,” he said when meeting after an inspection of imported meat was carried out at the Simpang Renggam establishment here. today.
He said there are 11 slaughterhouses in India and Pakistan that are halal certified.
