KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin says developing Sabah will be easier now that Gabungan Rakyat Sabah, which consists of Perikatan Nasional, Barisan Nasional and Parti Bersatu Sabah, won the Sabah elections.
In a town hall session for Shared Prosperity Vision (SPV) 2030, he said that the development of the state depends not only on the federal government but also on the state government.
“I don’t want to say that (having an) opposition (government) would be difficult, but now it will be much easier. Now it will be easier to plan, we can sit together and discuss, ”he said.
I was answering a question about the socio-economic and infrastructure development gap in Sabah.
Muhyiddin said many things needed to be done, adding that the Sabah and Sarawak Affairs Department of the Prime Minister’s Office had prepared a document to present to Cabinet.
He said the document covered not only the 1963 Malaysia Agreement, but other topics as well. “There are many (problems) that I would say we have identified.”
One of the objectives of the SPV, he said, was to reduce the development gap between different territories.
“We don’t want a situation where the peninsula develops rapidly, but Sabah and Sarawak are left behind. The policies are clear, but now what programs are we going to implement? “
He added that it was also necessary to ensure that there was no leakage of government funds.
