PETALING JAYA: A tweet from Tan Sri Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah has sparked intense discussion on Twitter.

The Director General of Health replied: “How about everyone stays home a little longer?” when Twitter user Zee @zalifahms suggested stopping interstate travel for a while and not relying on self-quarantine.

The responses were posted following a Dom @domycw who questioned the different quarantine rules for arrivals abroad and people traveling from Sabah to other parts of the country.

He asked if returnees abroad were coming home with a “different virus” before mentioning Dr. Noor Hisham and Twitter users from the Ministry of Health.

Returnees abroad must undergo Covid-19 testing and a 14-day quarantine at approved hotels or government facilities.

However, returnees from Sabah who test negative and show no symptoms do not need to be quarantined.

In a response, Dr. Noor Hisham cited Kedah’s example and asked if all Kedah returnees, despite testing negative, should be quarantined even though the red zone was only in Kota Setar.

“Sounds like going back to where the motion control command (MCO) started,” he said.

Dr. Noor Hisham’s “stay home” response, which was posted at 1.37 am on Thursday (October 1), has attracted much attention and response from users, who responded with divided opinions.
