PETALING JAYA: Pejuang, the party founded by former Prime Minister Dr. Mahathir Mohamad, has questioned the Registrar of Companies (RoS) for not registering the new party two months after the application was submitted.

In a statement, Pejuang Secretary General Amiruddin Hamzah said the party had contacted the RoS seven times and Interior Minister Hamzah Zainudin once to get an update on its request.

“Two months without any written response is not reasonable,” he said, adding that this gave the impression that the RoS had become a political tool of the government.

Pejuang submitted his application online, as well as to RoS Director General (DG) Masyati Abang Ibrahim at RoS headquarters in Putrajaya on August 19.

“There has been no response on the status of our application, either from RoS or Hamzah,” Amiruddin said.

He added that on September 28, Pejuang went to meet with the Director General of RoS where it was suggested that the party make some amendments to its constitution.

“These amendments were made on October 2 and sent to the RoS but since then there has been no response.

“The situation with our registration is very different from that of two other parties: Perikatan Nasional, which was registered quickly, and Parti Makkal Sakti Malaysia, which was approved in two weeks,” he said.

Amiruddin called on the interior minister and the general director of RoS to make a decision urgently and allow Pejuang to register “in accordance with the law”.
