In his Christmas Day message, the former prime minister said that this year’s celebration was not as comprehensive as previous years due to Covid-19 restrictions, which could not be avoided.

So far, the government has reached an agreement with Pfizer to purchase 12.8 million doses of its Covid-19 Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine. It also recently signed an agreement with AstraZeneca for the purchase of 6.4 million doses of its vaccine.

Dr. Mahathir urged all Malaysians to stay strong to endure the stress and sadness of the current situation while they wait for their hope to come true.

“We must be sure that there will be light to shine our lives behind every darkness,” he said, expressing his hope that the Christian community can experience Christmas with joy and happiness with his family and loved ones.
