In a joint statement, Dr. Mahathir Mohamad and Anwar Ibrahim point out that the current Perikatan Nasional government was not established through surveys.

PETALING JAYA: On the second anniversary of Pakatan Harapan’s historic victory in the 14th general election, former Prime Minister Dr. Mahathir Mohamad and PKR President Anwar Ibrahim say they are not giving up on fulfilling the people’s mandate.

In a joint statement, they argued that the current Perikatan Nasional government was not established through the polls.

They said that their spirits still burn despite their age.

“We don’t want to betray the people who spent hours lining up at the polling stations, spending hundreds of ringgit to fly home to vote and take unpaid leave to voice the change.

Two years ago, people of all faiths and races helped us with donations and contributions, voices and suggestions, hope and strength, just to see changes in our beloved country.

“May 9, 2018 was not an incident to commemorate the union of Mahathir or Anwar. It was an incident that clearly carried the destiny and future of the people and fought against injustice in the country. “

They said they could not bear to compromise their moral and ethical principles by supporting the current administration.

“The time has come for us to rise up again and work to return the mandate of the people to the legitimate party,” they added.
