Chief Health Officer Dr. Noor Hisham has called for the entire nation to come together to fight a common enemy.

PETALING JAYA: Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah told leaders tonight not to allow critics to prevent them from doing the right thing on the part of the people, after a government MP criticized him in Dewan Rakyat.

The general director of health said that serving the country is a call “that we must always carry with pride and honor.”

“Never let others discourage us from doing what is right for the rakyat. Wipe our tears, lift your chin and let’s move on, ”he wrote on Facebook.

Bintulu MP Tiong King Sing sparked a heated argument in the Dewan Rakyat when he accused Noor Hisham of seeking publicity in his daily health reports.

Tiong, who is the prime minister’s special envoy to China, asked why Noor Hisham did not visit hospitals to provide moral support to medical teams and asked, “Are you afraid of dying?”

Subsequently, Noor Hisham refuted the accusation, saying that he was not afraid of death and that he had flown to Sabah in late August to monitor the preparations for the state elections.

Tiong, who is president of PDP, a component of Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS), has since clarified that he did not intend to attack Noor Hisham, but was simply conveying the frustrations of the leaders and the people, while any deficiency must be identified and addressed.

Tonight, Noor Hisham said that in times of crisis and war, the nation must unite “to fight a common enemy.”

“I call on all who are on the front lines to always make sure that we set our intentions to serve the rakyat and the country wholeheartedly.”
