KUALA LUMPUR: The government ensures that the personal data of recipients who register to receive vaccine injections under the National Covid-19 Immunization Program (PICK) will not be disclosed to the vaccine manufacturer in question.

PICK Coordinating Minister Khairy Jamaluddin (pix) highlighted that data can be shared with the pharmaceutical company involved if the information is related to a post-immunization adverse event (AEFI).

“People don’t have to worry, we (the government) will not disclose your personal data to the vaccine manufacturing company and it will only be shared in cases of AEFI.

“For the situation between Pfizer-BioTech and Israel, they have already agreed to share the details of the recipients … in addition to that Israel is more advanced in receiving the vaccine,” said Khairy, who is also Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation. .

Khairy said during a video show, “Sembang Vaksin” via Zoom hosted by a group of doctors and health personnel on Twitter or MedTweetMY, tonight.

Meanwhile, he said that the Special Committee for the Guarantee of Access to the Supply of Covid-19 Vaccines (JKJAV) is discussing with private hospitals and doctors about their participation in Phase 2 and 3 of PICK.

He said vaccines for both phases need more health personnel, including hospitals and private facilities, to implement the program in the country.

“It should be noted that a portion of the people will receive their vaccine in private hospitals and health facilities in phases 2 and 3 of PICK and it will still be dispensed free of charge,” he said.

He said that, for the time being, JKJAV has established that all vaccine procurements from manufacturers would be made through the government to ensure fairness of immunization for people eligible for the vaccine.

He said that when the vaccine supply is finally available for the public market in the future, the government will monitor and set the maximum price of the vaccine in private hospitals.

In this regard, he said that the government is studying the proposal to formulate a new ordinance on the dissemination of false news about the Covid-19 vaccine that can cause confusion and fear among people.

Apart from that, Khairy also shared that as of 6.30pm today, 15,923 people had received the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine since Phase 1 of the program was launched on February 24. Called
