KUALA LUMPUR: Muslims in the country have been advised to stop accusing people of being apostates based solely on hearsay.

Referring to the issue of a Muslim woman who married an Indian hockey player, the Minister of the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) Zulkifli Mohamad Al-Bakri said that article 160 of the Federal Constitution defines that a Malaysian is a person who professes the religion of Islam. .

Therefore, he said, one should not accuse a Malaysian of being an apostate on the basis of unverified news.
