Disney + comes to Malaysia: Facebook and Instagram pages come to life

[ad_1]

More than a year has passed since Disney + made its debut but no news of Disney regarding its availability for Malaysia. It looks like it may change soon though, as two Malaysian-specific social media pages have recently been posted for the service.

These pages found on Facebook and Instagram have been verified by both platforms, as indicated by the blue mark in their name. There isn’t much activity there at the moment, but both pages contain this particular post:

Post “load” is identical to the one used by the Disney + Singapore Twitter page on December 8, 2020 which was only 3 days before the service revealed its official release date on December 11. However, these pages did not include the Disney + Hotstar Malaysia official website address and our guesswork (hotstar.com/my and disneyplus.com/my, for example) remained futile.

For those unfamiliar with Hotstar, it was originally an on-demand streaming platform from India that has become part of Disney after it acquired 20th Century Fox in 2019, when Indonesia became the first Disney + market in Southeast Asia last September, the service launched there as Disney + Hotstar Indonesia.

We are now reaching out to Disney to find out more about Disney + Hotstar Malaysia, but judging from the social media posts, it seems quite likely that the big announcement will be made soon.
