Bright beginnings
Having had a remarkable number of tough starts to games this season, the Reds were close to their best from the first whistle. Creating nine chances in the first half hour, the only difference between tonight and our spectacular start against Leeds on Sunday was a decisive finish. But with two such positive performances from the start in succession, perhaps it’s a sign that we’ve left that particular demon behind.
Keeping it clean
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team has yet to concede a goal in this year’s Carabao Cup, having maintained their third consecutive clean sheet in the competition by shutting out Everton in more than 90 minutes. While Dean Henderson can probably think of busier days between the sticks, he stood his ground in defense of his goal and produced a good save from a Gylfi Sigurdsson free kick in the first half.
Not as quiet as usual
Due to ongoing coronavirus restrictions, fan viewing within UK stadiums has been rare since March, but United, facing the Toffees for the 100th time at Goodison, received a reminder of the blue half of the passionate support from Merseyside, like 2,000 at home. the fans did their best to inspire their players towards a result. Fortunately for us, their efforts were in vain.
