KOTA KINABALU: Local singer Jimmy Palikat, who rose to fame with his hit song “Anak Kampung,” has decided to continue his quest to become an assemblyman despite the recent passing of his father.

Jimmy, who had previously said he wanted to run in the upcoming state elections, lost his father on Thursday.

Today, she came to the Tambunan Community Hall for Nominations to submit her nomination form.

“I continue in my search because it was my father’s wish before this. He gave me his blessing to participate in the elections. He wanted me to run as a candidate, but he didn’t.

“Before he left us, at the hospital, I whispered to him to wait, but perhaps it was fate that he died. I will continue because that was also his wish, ”he told FMT today.

Jimmy said the other members of his family also supported his decision to vote because they knew it was his father’s wish to do so.

“Everyone understands and encourages me. Whether I win or lose is secondary; I will still do my best.

“For the next few days I will be in mourning. After that, I’ll start campaigning. “

Jimmy, a native of Tambunan, is involved in a tough six-corner fight against incumbent and Federal Vice Minister Jeffrey Kitingan (STAR), Laurentius Nayan Yambu (Upko), Sylvernus Bruno (PBS), Damian Richard Marcus Podtung (Parti Cinta Sabah) and Nordin Jani (Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah).
