PENAMPANG: Sabah PKR chief Christina Liew is confident that party supporters will not sabotage their Warisan allies despite winning half the seats they wanted to contest in the upcoming state elections.

Liew said his focus was on winning all of his seats.

“We have gone through three phases of seat negotiations, between us, between our allies and again, between us today,” he told a news conference.

“After today, we will sit down with all Sabah PKR leaders and division heads and discuss our strategy going forward.”

Earlier, Liew delivered the “watikah” (appointment letter) to PKR candidates for the September 26 elections. Also present was PKR’s chief information officer, Shamsul Iskandar.

The seven candidates include Liew, who will defend his position at Api-Api, the head of the Sabah PKR Youth, Raymond Ahuar (Sook), Mustapha Sakmud (Tempasuk), Sazalye Donol Abdullah (Matunggong), Abdul Rahman (Klias) and the newcomers Alijus Sipil (Tamparuli) and Peto Galim (Inanam).

In the last general elections, PKR won two of the eight seats it contested: Api-Api and Inamam.

But his Inanam Assemblyman Kenny Chua later defected to join Sabah’s former Chief Minister Musa Aman in a bid to overthrow the Warisan-led government.

Since then, Chua has been fired by the party.
