PETALING JAYA: The public will be able to register their elderly dependents for anti-Covid-19 vaccination on the MySejahtera app starting Friday (March 19), says Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Khairy Jamaluddin.

“Phase two for the vaccination of the elderly will be introduced in the MySejahtera app, so that the public can register their parents, grandparents and other elderly relatives,” said Khairy.

He said that this registry is aimed at older people who have not yet registered for priority vaccination under the National Covid-19 Immunization Program.

The government is targeting a total of 68,003 people, comprising 48,564 seniors and 19,439 people with disabilities, to be vaccinated in the second phase of the program, which is expected to start in April.

Khairy told the media after being the first in the country to receive the Sinovac vaccine in Rembau on Thursday (March 18).

He also announced that the government will introduce a scheme to handle any serious adverse effects arising from the Covid-19 vaccination program.

There have been complaints from the public that many of the older people in the high-risk group do not own a smartphone and family members were unable to register them in the MySejahtera app.
