PUTRAJAYA: Vice Minister of Communications and Multimedia Datuk Zahidi Zainul Abidin (Photo) will rectify his answer regarding the student Veveonah Mosibin in the Dewan Negara.
Zainul had received criticism for saying that Veveonah, who said he had to spend the night in a tree to get a stable internet connection to take the exam online, did not have an exam the day he recorded his video, which was posted. in Youtube.
Minister Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah said that Zahidi had informed him that he would do so in Dewan Negara in response to questions raised in the Senate.
“His response has been recorded in Hansard and the deputy minister will rectify what he said,” Saiffudin said on Friday (September 4) after launching the Tanjak Merdeka program.
Zahidi had said that the Sabah student appeared to have been trying to make a name for herself to achieve temporary fame (“terkenal sekejap”) through her video.
He had to apologize shortly after when he discovered that his answer was based on inaccurate information.
Veveonah, 18, who earned the nickname “treetop girl,” responded by saying she was saddened and disappointed by the comments.
The video, which was posted by Veveonah in June, went viral and received widespread attention, prompting the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) to issue a statement, saying it would work to improve internet coverage in its area in Kampung Sapatalang in Pitas. Sabah.
