KOTA SAMARAHAN: Government funding in the amount of RM10.95 million has been provided under the Tekun Mobilepreneur financing scheme for 1,363 delivery passengers across the country, Business Development Minister Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar said today.
Under the plan, each rider would receive funding of up to RM10,000.
“So far, we have funneled RM1.15 million to 122 cyclists in Sarawak,” he said here.
The plan is to help those who have lost their source of income and were affected by the measures to control the Covid-19 pandemic.
They receive help to generate income through the purchase of a new motorcycle and the contribution of working capital.
Since the number of beneficiaries of the program has reached almost 1,500 people across the country, Wan Junaidi proposed that cyclists establish their own cooperative.
He said the delivery passengers could then raise their own funds and use them to buy shares in companies that hire them.
