Decision to nominate Hajiji as appropriate CM, says Ongkili

KOTA KINABALU: Datuk Hajiji Mohd Noor’s nomination as prime minister is consistent with the position of Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) during state elections, says its president Datuk Seri, Dr. Maximus Ongkili.

“PBS considers the decision to appoint Hajiji as Sabah’s 16th chief minister to be the most appropriate,” the minister of the Prime Minister’s Department (Sabah and Sarawak Affairs) and the deputy from Kota Marudu said in a statement on Monday. (September 28).

“It is consistent with the PBS proposal and its position during the course of the 16th state election, while other parties made their decision based on the outcome of the recently concluded election.

“PBS relies on the support of Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) members, Hajiji will be able to perform his duties well based on his vast experience as a former state cabinet minister and as an assemblyman for seven terms,” ​​Ongkili said, adding that experience of Hajiji would be invaluable and thus well used to serve the people.

He said that PBS also believed that Hajiji could honor the given mandate and lead the state as the prime minister “for all Sabahans.”

“PBS looks forward to working closely with him and offering the new prime minister the full support and cooperation to form this new Sabah government.”

“We are confident that through the formation of the new Sabah government under the GRS, we will be able to create new achievements and records that we can be proud of,” Ongkili said.
