Former English soccer star David Beckham and his wife, fashion designer Victoria Beckham, have joined the list of celebrities who have been infected by the coronavirus.

According to Sun, the celebrity couple likely caught the virus while in Los Angeles in March.

Citing unidentified sources, the British tabloid said that Beckham, 45, and Victoria, 46, flew to the United States on March 1 to cheer on their soccer club Inter Miami, which was playing its first game away from home in Los Angeles Football Club.

They were joined by celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay and other members of the Beckham family, including his son Brooklyn’s fiancee, actress Nicola Peltz.

The unidentified friend was cited by Sun as if to say, “They attended a couple of glitzy networking events as David had promotional duties, and they were shaking hands and kissing fans and various club dignitaries.”

The family then returned to London a few days later for Brooklyn’s 21st birthday party, which was attended by celebrities like Spice Girl Emma Bunton and rapper Stormzy. The Beckhams returned to Miami shortly after the celebration.

The friend said Beckham, the former Manchester United, Real Madrid and LA Galaxy player, began to feel unwell after his return to the United States, as Victoria had a sore throat and high fever.

They were later diagnosed with Covid-19.

The source added that the family’s drivers, bodyguards and assistants also fell ill at around the same time.

The friend said Victoria, also a member of the Spice Girls, quarantined the family for more than two weeks because she was concerned they might be super spreaders.

The couple underwent swab tests to confirm they were not infectious before traveling to Italy and Greece on vacation in July and August.

Spokesmen for the couple declined to comment on Sunhistory of.
