KUALA LUMPUR: A man, with the title “Datuk Seri”, and two policemen have requested a review in the High Court of his detention under the Prevention of Crime Act (POCA) of 1959.
Lawyer Shah Rizal Abdul Manan, representing one of the policemen, said the request was submitted on October 19 last.
He said the request will be heard on November 2 before Judicial Commissioner Datuk Aslam Zainuddin.
“Although the date is still during the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO), the court will meet for the application,” he said when contacted by Bernama today.
The three men, aged 34 to 39, had requested a review of a Magistrates Court decision on October 14 by allowing a police request to detain them under POCA for 14 days.
Prior to that, the media reported that Kuala Lumpur Chief of Criminal Investigation SAC Nik Ros Azhan Nik Ab Hamid claimed the following, the police had re-arrested three people after the court rejected the applied pretrial detention order by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) against them, who were initially detained on suspicion of online gambling activity.
They were re-arrested immediately after being released by MACC. – Called
