DAP Representative Ronnie Liu Arrested for FB Post Allegedly insulting King

PETALING JAYA: Sungai Pelek Assemblyman Ronnie Liu (Photo) has been arrested in connection with posts made on social media that allegedly have seditious tendencies towards the Yang di-Pertuan Agong.

When contacted, Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Deputy Director Mior Faridalathrash Wahid said that Liu was arrested at the Petaling Jaya police headquarters on Wednesday morning (October 28).

“The arrest was made to allow us to conduct investigations under Section 4 (1) of the Sedicia Act of 1948 and Section 233 of the Communication and Multimedia Act of 1998.

“We will record your return and release it once everything is done.

“It all depends on the statement given,” he said.

Liu arrived at the Petaling Jaya Police Headquarters around 10:40 a.m. M.

He is one of four people investigated for allegations that they insulted the king.

The post that had Liu arrested is believed to be the one on October 21 with the title: “Now in Bangkok, they are saying no to the king.”
