Ten-man Sheffield United were denied their first win of the season when Brighton scored late to salvage a 1-1 draw in the Premier League.
With fans watching Amex Stadium, Brighton started out stronger, but despite dominating possession in the first half, they couldn’t make it worth anything with just a handful of half chances.

John Lundstram’s tackle saw him sent off for a hefty challenge on Joel Veltman in the 40th minute, leaving Chris Wilder with an uphill battle to get something out of the game.
But it was second-half substitute Jayden Bogle who scored his first goal for the Blades and put South Yorkshire’s side ahead. David McGoldrick’s perfectly timed run beat out Brighton’s defensive line, then cut the ball for Bogle inside the area, who made a yard of space to shoot, which deflected Webster and passed Sanchez.
But it wasn’t for Wilder, as Danny Welbeck converted from inside the box with a neat chest control and a side volley that outscored Aaron Ramsdale with three minutes to go.
The next step for Brighton is a trip to the London stadium where they will face West Ham United.
While Sheffield United hosts top-flight Everton at Bramall Lane.
TALKING POINT – Brighton’s extra man counted for little
Graham Potter will be disappointed that his Brighton team cannot take more advantage of their additional man advantage. Given that John Lundstram was sent off in the 33rd minute, the home team was unable to create any real chances, which is not surprising given that they have only scored two in their last four games.
MAN OF THE MATCH – Aaron Ramsdale (Sheffield United)
Blades’ plug was in good shape with his goal peppered with attempts over the course of 90 minutes. His brave double stop from the feet of Neal Maupay and Aaron Connolly were his highlights of the day and capped his brilliant performance.
