In a game with tons of different elements like Cyberpunk 2077, it’s rare for a player to be punished for having too many. But apparently that is what is happening with the game. Specifically, an error is causing the saved file to get corrupted if it exceeds 8MB. And one way to do that is to have too many items.

A post on the CD Projekt Red forum has players chittering, all reporting that their Cyberpunk 2077 saves have been corrupted. The one thing most of them have in common is that their save file is 8MB or more in size. And this is mainly achieved by players who spend a lot of time with the creation part of the game. Or those that made use of an item duplication bug.
If you’re wondering, the process involves purchasing many items, taking them all apart, and using their parts to make more expensive items. The end result is more money that you can use to buy more things to take apart and repeat the process.
However, it remains to be seen whether the so-called item duplication problem really is one. Because it sounds more like a poorly balanced economy in Cyberpunk 2077. Either way, both will need to be fixed. Although I suspect gamers will appreciate that the save file size limit is increased first.
