Despite fears of another delay, CD Projekt Red’s (CDPR) has finally delivered on its promise and its long-awaited title, Cyberpunk 2077, is finally available on all platforms. Fun fact about the game: The studio sold a whopping eight million copies prior to the game’s launch, and as it stands, the game is currently on Steam’s pedestal as the most actively played title on the platform.

Within hours of its release, Cyberpunk 2077 peaked at a million games at the same time. That number has dropped a bit since then, but as of this writing, it is still quite high at an average of 800,000 players.
Cyberpunk 2077 sold 8 million copies before launch.
That’s more than $ 500 million in revenue before launch.
For reference, GTAV made $ 800 million on its first day, including pre-orders + first-day sales. https://t.co/DNNZjp5w5Q

For context, that number of players in Cyberpunk 2077 exceeds the number of players in Dota 2 and CS: GO, combined. That’s quite an impressive feat, especially since the former is currently just a single-player title, while the other two are multiplayer.
In fact, not even CDPR’s previous hit, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt was able to pull off that many players; At launch, the game peaked at 40,000 simultaneous players. It wasn’t until the launch and critical success of the Netflix adaptation of the Polish series that the game managed to break the 100,000 mark. Even then, that number is still small compared to what Cyberpunk 2077 has done.
