KUANTAN: The Civil and Public Service Employees Trade Union Congress (Cuepacs) hopes to hold further discussions with the Public Service Department (PSD) as soon as possible on the proposed new Malaysian Compensation System (SSM).
Its president Adnan Mat (pix, standing) said that the new salary scheme was more comprehensive to meet current needs in line with the rising cost of living and was drawn up taking into account the opinions of the officials themselves.
He said the proposal was first discussed with the PSD on January 13 last year to replace the existing compensation system for civil servants.
“The existing SSM has been in use since 2002 with only a small upgrade from SSM to SSM plus. Therefore, we hope to have more detailed discussions with the PSD (about the new system), ”he told reporters after handing over the assistance to public officials affected by the floods here today.
Adnan said that the salary increase in 2007 and 2012 was only made based on the current situation and the demand that was not implemented in a systematic way, so the increase would occur every five years since there was no collective agreement in this regard.- Called
