KOTA BARU (Bernama): The Ministry of Federal Territories has issued a severe warning to merchants who misuse the license that has been granted to them under the “Wilayah Bebas Berniaga” program or the Free Business Region (FBR) program by giving it to foreign.
Minister Tan Sri Annuar Musa said traders who found out that doing so would have their names blacklisted and their licenses revoked.
“The Kuala Lumpur City Council (DBKL) will investigate to ensure that merchants do not obtain more than one FBR license and that the license is issued only to Malaysian nationals,” he told reporters after handing over contributions, in the form of basic necessities, to the Chinese community affected by the Covid-19 outbreak in Kampung Tokong, Ketereh here on Saturday (December 12).
Annuar said that as of Friday (December 11), DBKL had received 3,300 applications for FBR licenses.
A total of 1,700 applications were approved and the number of applications that have been rejected is small and mainly to apply to operate in unauthorized areas, he said, adding that the remaining applications are still pending.
He hoped that those who have been licensed would not cause a nuisance to the public and operate their businesses according to standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Annuar also said that he is happy that the FBR program is taking place in other states as well. – Bernama
