PORT KLANG: Two students from a high school here tested positive for Covid-19.

When contacted on Monday (September 28), Selangor Health Director Datuk Dr. Sha’ari Ngadiman confirmed the two positive cases of Covid-19 at the school.

He added that he had already reported the news to Health Director General Tan Sri, Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah.

Meanwhile, Selangor’s education director Izmi Ismail said he was informed that the two students had been quarantined and officials from the state Department of Health had visited the school at noon.

“The school has also cleaned up the classrooms,” he added.

Previously, several WhatsApp messages were circulated regarding the two cases at SMK Pendamaran Jaya, with a message instructing teachers to arrive early to disinfect their classrooms.

Another message said that since the state education department had not received instructions on the need to vacate the school, parents who were concerned about the safety of their children did not have to send them to school.

Teachers were also told to keep students from going to computer and science labs, as well as other shared facilities to limit movement.

Teachers were also advised not to allow group eating, leaving the classroom in a group, or going to the bathroom in pairs.

It is not known how the two students became infected with Covid-19.

Sources say that there are a considerable number of Sabahan children who attend school.

Officers from the state Department of Health were also seen entering the school around noon.
