Covid-19: Two New Clusters in Sabah Linked to Construction Sites in KK, Tawau

KOTA KINABALU: The two new Covid-19 clusters in Sabah on Sunday (November 15) are linked to construction sites, says Datuk Masidi Manjun.

The minister in charge of Covid-19 affairs in Sabah said the groups were the Plaza group in Kota Kinabalu involving a construction site on The Shore with 12 cases and the Jalan Kalabakan group in Tawau involving 22 cases.

He said the 381 new positive cases in the state on Sunday comprised these cases.

He said that Kota Kinabalu had 95 cases, Tawau (65), Sandakan (51) with two deaths, Semporna (48) with one death, Lahad Datu (34), Tuaran (30), Kota Belud (14), Kudat (13) , Keningau (11), Putatan (11), Penampang (four), Papar (four) and Kinabatangan (one).

“A total of 566 patients have recovered while 2,404 continue to receive treatment (685 in hospitals and 1,719 in the various quarantine and treatment centers) throughout the state,” he said.

Masidi said 64 are in intensive care, while 20 people need respiratory assistance.

On other issues, he said that two new towns, the Telipok settlement and Kg Numbak, will be under the improved MCO from November 16 to November 29.

“The various stores can operate from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Markets can operate twice a week from 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. residents can buy essentials, “he said.

Masidi said that a representative of each family can go to the banks with the approval or permission of the authorities stationed in these places.
