Covid-19: two new cases detected in Sarawak, both imported

SIBU: Two new Covid-19 cases were detected in Sarawak on Monday (Dec 28) and both are imported cases found in Kuching.

The State Disaster Management Committee said the first case involved a Sarawak accountant who had just returned from the Congo where she worked.

The committee said his PCR test in Congo on December 21 was negative while an RTK

The antigen test was also negative at KL International Airport, but it tested positive at a quarantine center in Kuching.

She has been referred to the Sarawak General Hospital in Kuching for treatment.

The second positive case involved an illegal immigrant from Indonesia, who was arrested on December 25 by law enforcement officers after a public notice in Bau.

“He was arrested along with six other Indonesians for illegally entering the state,” the committee said.

The committee said that since September 1, when the conditional motion control

the order was enforced, the state had reported 38 imported cases from other

countries, 80 cases imported from other states of the country and 293 cases local transmission.
