Covid-19: two more in isolation after being in close contact with Tok Pa during cabinet meeting

PETALING JAYA: Only two ministers from the January 6 cabinet meeting were informed that they were in close contact with the minister in the prime minister’s department, Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed, who tested positive for Covid-19 on Sunday (9 of January).

At the Cabinet meeting, all the ministers were seated while practicing physical distancing and had shields in the middle, and only those who sat next to Mustapa were considered close contacts.

“Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin was sitting about seven chairs away, about seven meters, from Mustapa,” said one minister, who attended the meeting but was not identified as a close contact.

The Minister of the Prime Minister’s Department, Datuk Seri Mohd Redzuan Md Yusof, and the Minister of Communications and Multimedia, Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah, who sat next to Mustapa during the cabinet meeting, confirmed with The Star that both have been identified as contacts. nearby and are now isolated as a precaution.

Redzuan and Saifuddin, who said they had not experienced any symptoms, are now under home surveillance order (HSO) before undergoing their swab tests.

Two other ministers, including a senior minister, were already under HSO prior to the cabinet meeting because their assistants had been identified as Covid-positive.

The duo did not attend the cabinet meeting on January 6.
