KUCHING: Malaysians who have received two doses of the Covid-19 vaccine can travel freely between states and districts, says Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.

The prime minister said the latest international research on the vaccine indicated that those who received two doses and a certificate could travel anywhere.

“There were previous views that those who have been vaccinated may be protected from infection, but could be potential carriers of the virus. But now, this has been found to be untrue.

“I have discussed this at the NSC (National Security Council) meeting. We want to decide if this is the case, those who have received two doses can travel through states and districts.

“‘Boleh ke sana ke sini’ (go anywhere) without being stopped by the authorities,” he said at a Shared Prosperity Vision town hall session here on Thursday (April 1).

Muhyiddin, who was answering a question about vaccination, said the loosening was not an incentive but rather an encouragement for those who had been vaccinated and received a digital certificate.

He said that did not mean that people could now start traveling to different states for a vacation.

“If you haven’t been vaccinated and you don’t have a digital certificate, then you can’t go. But if you’ve had two doses, then you can fly anywhere,” he said.

Muhyiddin also indicated that international travel could soon be possible for those who had been vaccinated.

“We have started talks with several countries to allow our citizens who have received two doses with the certificate to travel,” he said.

Currently, interstate travel is not yet allowed under the conditional movement control and recall (MCO) order.

The conditional MCO has been extended from March 30 to April 12 in Sarawak and from April 1 to 14 in Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Johor, Penang and Kelantan.

Another nine states and Labuan remain under the recovery MCO from April 1-14.
